Operational Dog Duties

“At dragon k9 we believe that prevention is better than cure”

We currently have drug detection and explosives detection dog teams available for work within the UK. We are awaiting the arrival of our pet passports that will then allow us to travel abroad carrying out detection work in other countries. All our breeding stock i.e. stud dogs and brood bitches are trained in certain disciplines. Therefore we always have stock available for operational duties.

Schools

Do to the increasing number of incidents of drugs and public violence; a growing need for increased school security and drug free environments has arisen across the country.

Schools and employers are allowing detection teams into their work places as a strategy to improve safety in schools and assist in drug abuse prevention.

Drug dogs in schools can provide an excellent service for drug prevention. Supporters say that after the program is implemented, the drug dogs rarely turn up illegal substances but still provide a powerful deterrent.

Nightclubs / Entertainment Venues

Operational work within the entertainment industry as shown us that the deterrent value of a drug detection dog working such premises can reduce the use of drugs by as much as 80%.

Each dog team consists of a handler working two dogs, one pro-active and one passive. The handler will sweep the premises with the pro-active dog to insure the area is free from concealed drugs. Then the passive dog will be utilized on the point of entry to search persons entering the premises.

These dogs work on the lead and are trained, on detection of illegal substances, to sit ( passive response ). The dog makes no contact with the person carrying the drugs.

A screening service is available to insure your premises are drug free. These searches can be carried out after work hours, clubs during the day, schools during the evening.
