Puppy Plan

If you are thinking of purchasing a new puppy and are unsure of what breed to select than please feel free to consult with us. We can give you lengthy advice on the right breed for your home and family environment. With certain breeds we can even point you in the right direction.

If you have already purchased the puppy than we are on-hand to give you good advice on rearing, feeding and training your new charge.All training should start when the puppy arrives home. Basic discipline, rules and regulations all have to be laid down as law. Not just for the pup but for the family as well.

Please make sure you are sure in your mind that you have the time and capability to take on a new pup. House training alone can take up a considerable amount of time but can be succesfully done over as little as two to three days after arriving home, with the right education! The first 12 weeks of a puppies life are crucial. It is during this period that they must be socialised and the basics of education put in. By the age of three months we would expect a pup to carry out the following basics;

* Go to his/her bed when told

* Be clean in the house

* Sit when told

* To accept the lead during basic heel work

* Come when called

All this can be achieved with as little as two visits. The alternative is that the dog becomes set in his ways and can take months to put right once an adult.

"It is far better to invest a little time and effort in the pup now avoiding a potential problem dog later"
